Linda J. Fisher Named to Board of Directors for RESOLVE
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 30, 2004) – Linda J. Fisher, formerly
Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
and currently an environmental, public policy and governmental
affairs consultant, has been named to the Board of Directors of
RESOLVE, a not-for-profit public policy dispute resolution
organization based in Washington, D.C.
Fisher brings more than 25 years of environmental policy
experience, much of it with the federal government, to the
12-member board of directors which is headed by chairman F. Henry
“Hank” Habicht, President and CEO of Global Environment &
Technology Foundation, Arlington, Va.
While with the EPA from 1985 to 1993 and 2001 to 2003, Fisher has
held more Presidential appointments than any other person in the
Agency’s history. Those positions include serving as the Assistant
Administrator for the Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances
program, as the Assistant Administrator for the Office of Policy
and Planning, and as the Chief of Staff to the EPA Administrator.
During her tenure at EPA, Fisher has been responsible, among many
projects, for working with Congress to ensure the continuation of
a reformed and improved Superfund program for cleaning up toxic
wastes and strengthening the nation’s food safety laws. She also
played an instrumental role in developing the Agency’s first
reports on global climate change.
In addition to her EPA experience, Fisher worked in the U.S. House
of Representatives serving as a Legislative Assistant to two Ohio
Congressmen and as Associate Staff Member for the House
Appropriations Committee. In the private sector she served as an
environmental attorney for the law firm of Latham & Watkins and
was a Vice President for government affairs at Monsanto Company.
In 2003 she founded Linda Fisher Company LLC.
Fisher is originally from Columbus, Ohio, and received her
undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio; her masters of
business administration degree from George Washington University;
and her law degree from Ohio State University.
